Lagom India: Elevate Your Home with Sustainable Elegance and Eco-Friendly Craftsmanship
Sustainability is more than just a buzzword—it’s a crucial principle guiding our future. As individuals and businesses increasingly embrace environmentally conscious practices, the focus on sustainability is clear: to do well by doing good. A sustainable business strategy aims to positively impact the environment, community, and society, while failing to uphold these values can lead to detrimental effects like environmental harm and social injustice.
The Lagom Life
In 2021, Natasha, a former Captain and devoted mother, launched Lagom India, a venture dedicated to merging sustainability with traditional craftsmanship. Inspired by her husband’s work as a fourth-generation organic farmer and motivated by the need to address the waste of coconut shells from their farm, Natasha set out to create meaningful products. Lagom India transforms these discarded shells into beautiful, artisanal homewares such as soap dishes, lanterns, and water goblets, while also offering traditional South Indian treats like banana chips and murukus.
From Skies to Sustainability
Natasha, who has flown various aircraft for a major domestic airline for 15 years, decided to take a sabbatical after her son’s birth to pursue her passion for mindful living and sustainability. The pandemic underscored the importance of sustainable practices and shifted her focus from aviation to environmental stewardship. “The pandemic made me realize the urgent need for sustainability. Traditional eating and mindful consumption are connected to positive health outcomes and environmental responsibility,” Natasha explains.
Mindful Consumption
Lagom India’s products are available online and via their Instagram page, reaching customers across India. The brand has fulfilled over 100 orders monthly, reflecting a growing demand for sustainable products. Natasha’s vision for Lagom India is to inspire consumers to embrace sustainability as a natural and positive choice, rather than a burden. “Lagom, meaning ‘just right’ in Swedish, embodies our belief that sustainability should be about finding the right balance in our choices,” she says.
